Basement

This space is  predominantly used for storage and  houses the library’s popular newspaper collection that dates back to 1902; The management offices are also located here. The basement is prone to flooding, is poorly lit and ventilated. Plans for this space include improved ventilation, installation of shelving, renovated offices, server rooms and limited seating for those who need to access the newspaper collection. Insulation works are also proposed.

Anew office layout with a total of 6 office space + office for the chief librarian

A more efficient organization of stored materials that allows a circular flow. these parts of the library are open to the public accompanied by staff

Waterproofing Internal Perimeter Walls

An internal drained cavity wall is required around the inside of the buildings perimeter in order prevent water ingress and preserve the historical building and structure
