Easter at Makadara Library

On Saturday 20th April, we hosted an Easter Fair at McMillan’s Eastlands branch (Makadara Library) with lots of fun activities for kids and young adults. We kicked off with a screening of SOUL BOY, a 2010 Kenyan film. Written by Billy Kahora and directed by Hawa Essuman, the film shot in Kibera tells the story of 14 year old Abila (Samson Odhiambo), racing along with his girlfriend Shiku (Leila Dayan Opou), throughout the neighbourhoods of Nairobi, hoping to cure his father who has gambled away his soul. After the screening, it was fun and games o’clock: bouncing castles, colouring and drawing sessions, arts and crafts and planting of some plants too. These activities are supported by British Council Kenya and Goethe-Institut Nairobi.
