Macondo Literary Festival

The Macondo Literary Festival 2022 brings together, for the first time on the African continent, writers from nine Lusophone, Francophone and Anglophone African countries and Brazil in conversation. The festival is intended as a platform to explore belonging, identity and history among English, French and Portuguese-speaking artists and audiences in Kenya. It will raise questions such as: What do these two regions have in common? What unites, what separates us? Through which lenses and how are African peoples’ histories and futures told and retold? How did we become who we are? Under the theme The Future of Memories, the festival presents new perspectives on African histories featured in fictional and nonfiction texts, but also in other art forms, through workshops, book launches, panel discussions, meet-the-author events and other artistic expressions.
