We’ve been actively working towards ensuring #NBOLibraries are inclusive spaces for everyone. We are currently working towards adding to the libraries inventory, resources specifically for people living with disabilities. Here’s a throwback to our first consultative session we held with Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within our library community.

This Saturday 24th September, 2022 we are excited to announce the film screening of The Forbidden Reel by director Ariel Nasr courtesy of Docubox - The East African Documentary Film Fund as part of our #HepaJam film screenings.

This film is the story of Afghanistan’s fearless and visionary moviemakers—and the films we almost never got to see. The filmmakers created amidst war and chaos, an extraordinary national cinema. Driven to destroy, Taliban extremists set out to torch this legacy. Marveling in the beauty and fragile power of movies, Afghan-Canadian director Ariel Nasr crafts a thrilling and utterly original story of modern Afghanistan.

Over the past few months, our inventory team has been taking stock of all the items held at McMillan Memorial Library on Banda Street, ahead of its physical restoration work. Did you know there’s an actual head of a lion at the library, as well as some of Kenya’s oldest newspaper collection?
