SUPPORT NAIROBI'S PUBLIC LIBRARIES

Our work has demonstrated significant benefits for communities. We provide free access to educational resources; books, computers, WiFi and study spaces. Between 2022 & 2023, there was a 46.5% growth in the usage of library facilities, demonstrating the growing value of these resources and increased access by library communities. Our holistic approach addresses diverse needs by offering arts education, skills training, public events, archival preservation and community gardens. This comprehensive model provides educational and cultural opportunities, with 21,855 users participating in library programmes in 2023 in comparison to 2,360 in 2019. Prior to our intervention, the libraries we have restored had only 13,411 users in 2019, many of them sharing insights that allowed us to shape the restoration of these spaces in 2020. Through our community-driven process which employed 103 community members in the renovation work, usage grew 243% between 2019-2023, serving 60,199 users in 2023.
